Labour Code on Wages Bill, 2015

A significant overhaul of labour regulations by the Ministry of Labour & Employment is on its way. Union Cabinet on 23nd July 2017 approved the Labour Code on Wages Bill, 2015 which, seeks to repeal and consolidate four key labour laws, namely,


  • The Minimum Wages Act, 1948,
  • The Payment of Wages Act, 1936,
  • The Payment of Bonus Act, 1965 and
  • The Equal Remuneration Act, 1976.
